Former Vail Valley House candidate joins Department of Interior

DENVER, Colorado ” Colorado conservationist and former congressional candidate Will Shafroth has been named the Interior Department’s deputy assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced the appointment Tuesday.
Shafroth was a founding director of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund, which distributes Colorado Lottery proceeds for wildlife, parks, rivers, trails and open space.
Salazar, a former Colorado senator, worked with Shafroth on Great Outdoors Colorado
Shafroth was also a founding director of the Colorado Conservation Trust.
He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination in Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes the Vail Valley. Jared Polis won the primary and the seat in November.
