Fort Collins woman killed, 2nd hurt in Weld crash
GREELEY, Colorado – A Fort Collins woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Weld County.
The Colorado State Patrol says 74-year-old Mary N. Gonzales was northbound on Colorado 257 at about 6 p.m. Thursday when her Ford Taurus was struck broadside by an eastbound Buick Century.
Gonzales suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where she later died. A passenger, 65-year-old Julie A. Jimenez of Fort Collins, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
The driver and a passenger in the Buick were transported to the hospital with minor to serious injuries.
Authorities say it’s not known yet whether alcohol, drugs or excessive speed contributed to the crash.
The accident is under investigation.
