Four spots open on town of Vail boards

VAIL, Colorado ” The town of Vail, Colorado is looking for community members to fill three vacancies on the Local Licensing Authority (commonly known as the liquor board) and an opening on the Vail Local Housing Authority.

The volunteer liquor board reviews all Town of Vail liquor license applications. The five-member board meets the second Wednesday of each month beginning at 10 a.m. in the Vail Town Council Chambers.

The terms for all three openings run until June 1, 2011. To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens, registered Vail voters, have lived in Vail for at least two years preceding appointment and have no direct financial interest in any license to sell alcohol.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. April 14. Applicants will be interviewed by the town council at its April 21 afternoon work session, with appointments to follow at its evening meeting.

There is one open position on the Vail Local Housing Authority, which is responsible for working on the town’s affordable housing plans. The five-member board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m., with additional meetings scheduled on an as-needed basis. The term for the open seat runs from June 1, 2009 until May 31, 2014.

Applicants must be full-time, year-round residents of Eagle County who are either residents of the town or work for a Vail business.

Technical experience in the financing of large projects, development, construction or construction management, planning, design or legal work is also helpful.
