Frank V. Hitt, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Vail, Colorado passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours Sunday.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy. Together they are the beloved parents of Frank Jr. (Lonna), of Sacramento, Calif., Alan (Kim), of Las Vegas, N.V., and Farrow (Bridget), of Vail, CO.
Frank also leaves behind his sister Patricia “Patty” Mache of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grand child
Frank was born in Columbia, S.C., in 1923. As a young man he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and later joined the FBI as an agent fighting crime. It was there he met his future wife, Dorothy Brillhart. Frank worked his way to deputy director for the FBI alongside J. Edger Hoover.
After retiring from the FBI, Frank and Dorothy launched a very successful custom home building operation in both Atlanta and Houston. During the late 1980s, after retiring from the building business, Frank and Dee moved to Vail and enjoyed Vail year round. They later moved back to Atlanta, then finally settling in Mt Pleasant, S.C.

Frank enjoyed skiing, traveling, the beach, grandchildren, family and friends. He thought of Vail as his second home and spent several months every year here in Vail, during both summer and winter.
We want to thank all of you who welcomed our parents to this community and shared time with them. Frank will be dearly missed.
