Fraudulent fundraiser tries to trick Gypsum business
Gypsum, CO Colorado
GYPSUM, Colorado –A Gypsum business has received a prank call from a person claiming to be a representative of the “Gypsum Police Department,” which does not exist, the town says.
The unidentified caller was seeking donations for a fundraiser to help Gypsum businesses “keep the money locally.” Gypsum does not have its own police department and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is running no such fundraiser.
Citizens and business owners are cautioned to validate alleged “fundraisers” and “events” before making any kind of donation. Should you receive a fraudulent solicitation, please report the incident by calling dispatch at the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department, 970-479-2201.
The Vail Valley’s real estate market has long been an unusual one, with very expensive sales accounting for a large share of the market’s dollar volume. That means a few sales can have a large impact on volume.
