VAIL, Colorado “-Shoppers have a little more room to park starting today in Vail, Colorado.

The town has added 15 spaces where drivers can park for free for 30 minutes. Ten of the spaces are just east of the 15-minute loading zone spaces on the top deck of the Vail Village garage and five are in the value card lot on level 2 of the Lionshead garage.

The town’s parking task force decided to create the spaces after getting feedback the shoppers need more short-term parking options.

Other modifications announced last week include a two-hour extension for vehicles using Donovan Park on days when the pavilion isn’t in use. The hours for public parking have been extended to 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The seven-member Parking Task Force is made up of representatives from the business community, Vail Resorts, the Town Council and the community at large to evaluate ongoing parking operations and to make recommendations on policies and pricing.

For more information, contact Mike Rose, the town’s parking and transit manager, at 970-479-2349
