Free Comic Book Day is Saturday
May 4, 2012
VAIL, Colorado – Free Comic Book Day is an event that most comic book stores across the country for the past 11 years have participated in every year on the first Saturday in May. They offer comics produced promotionally, specifically for this special day of all types and reading levels. Participating locally Saturday from 10 a.m. until midnight is Eagle Valley Music and Comics, located in The West Vail Mall behind Qdoba.
The store has celebrated the day for the past four years, and this year will be no different. They offer three books absolutely free of charge per household, and many more books available with purchase. The books available this year can be seen at freecomicbookday.com.
“The Avengers” movie opened nationally the day before Free Comic Book Day, which will bring even more attention to Free Comic Book Day than usual. This summer is looking to be full of hero related and pop culture icon movies on the big screen. A visit to your local comic shop is a sure way to be up on all the characters featured in this summer’s blockbusters, and even familiarize yourself with some of the characters you don’t know much about.
This is a very family friendly event, and can be a fun, inexpensive Saturday outing for the whole family. Also, it is a good way to introduce kids to a medium that may be new to them and to keep kids reading over the summer.
