Free film screening in Avon Wednesday

The public is invited to attend a free screening of the documentary film “Split Estate” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Avon Public Library.

Imagine discovering that you don’t own the mineral rights under your land, and that an energy company plans to drill for natural gas 200 feet from your front door. “Split Estate” is an Emmy winning documentary that maps a tragedy in the making, as citizens in the path of a new drilling boom in the Rocky Mountain West struggle against the erosion of their civil liberties, their communities and their health. The film focuses on Garfield County, Colorado and the San Juan Basin.

Now Showing @ EVLD offers free film screenings throughout the year. Upcoming films include: Nov. 30, “Reporter” (NR) and Dec. 14, “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” (PG-13).

For a complete schedule of upcoming films, visit the Eagle Valley Library District’s website at http://www.evld.org. All film screenings are free and open to the public. Films may not be appropriate for all audiences.
