Free reiki for Eagle County cancer patients

Daily staff report
VAIL CO, Colorado

Local counselor and reiki master, Catherine Zeeb, Ph.D., is offering free Reiki treatments to cancer patients, those currently in treatments, and to those recovering from treatments, through the month of September.

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese healing art that incorporates elements of spiritual healing, auras, crystals, chakra balancing, aromatherapy and meditation. It involves balancing the natural life force energy within the body, which enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Reiki is purported to bring about deep relaxation, destroy perceived energy blockages, help detoxify the system, provide new vitality in the form of healing energy and increase the vibrational frequency of the body.

“I have been a reiki master for over 10 years,” Zeeb said. “Reiki is a form of spiritual healing. I place my hands above the client’s body and the recipient draws the energy as needed. The individual being healed has to take an active part in the healing.”

Working with cancer is one of Zeeb’s specialties, she said.

“I do not give energy to the cancer, yet balance the chakras so they are in alignment and energy flows to assist the recipient to feel better during and after chemotherapy treatments or whatever stage of treatment they are in,” she said.

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

After cancer treatments, many people feel very unbalanced, off-kilter or even ill.

“Aligning the chakras helps balance the energies so the recipient can feel good enough to help themselves heal,” she said. “One treatment a week is beneficial. I will do my best to schedule interested parties in weekly amongst my regular clients through the end of September.”
