Freedom Park to expand on Veterans Day
EDWARDS ” Eagle County’s veterans and emergency services workers memorial in Freedom Park is set to grow on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, said Buddy Sims, vice president of the organizing committee.
The first batch of pavers will be installed on the pathway in front of the flag pole. The pavers, surrounding plaza, and flag pole are the first phase of a larger memorial to all Eagle County veterans, police officers, firefighters and paramedics who have died in the line of duty, Sims said.
There will be a special block of 28 pavers inscribed for members of the B-52 bomber crews killed in action over North Vietnam in Linebacker II in 1972. Pavers can also be sponsored to remember any person, friend, or business.
Pavers can be purchased at http://www.freedomparkmemorial.org or by calling Buddy Sims at 926-3068.
