Frenchman Nico Wayne Touissaint plays the Rumpus Room in Edwards
Frenchman Nico Wayne Toussaint wasn’t born with the blues. But it’s been in his heart ever since he listened to James Cotton in the Muddy Waters’ album “Hard Again” at age 15.
Since then he has surrounded himself with blues greats, including Junior Wells, William Clarke, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed or Louisiana Red and of course Cotton. Traveling through the United States and working as a French TA in Minneapolis, Touissant actually got to play with some legends Jimmy Johnson, Eddy C. Campbell, R.J. Mischo, Luther Allison, Billy Branch among others.
In France, his career started in 1993 playing with his dad on piano in the family band. Years later, he started a band of his own and was booked to play the major French blues and jazz festivals, as well as began touring internationally.
On Wednesday, Toussaint plays The Rumpus Room in Edwards at 9 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.nwtoussaint.com.
