From exotic Bali to western whitewater, Women’s Empowerment Workshop expands programs

VAIL — Women’s Empowerment Workshop, founded in Vail in 2009, has blossomed into an international retreat provider for women and girls offering empowering opportunities, from a week in Bali to a six-day river wisdom whitewater adventure, to the Chrysalis Circle girls camp nature adventure program.
“The demand is growing because the work we do is really impactful, and it transforms lives,” said founder, Susie Kincade. “Combining personal life coaching with nature adventure in an intimate, small group environment simply works.”
Kincade is inspired by reconnecting people to the natural world to feel the deep power available there. While she has felt this connection her whole life, she began studying the “nature effect” fifteen years ago, and learned that on both the scientific and spiritual levels being in nature adds to our wholeness and self-knowing. She is a whitewater rafter, hiker, coach, outdoor adventurer and former Olympic contender in diving. Now, Kincade is pursuing her certification as a transformational wilderness guide, the leading edge of personal coaching that uses nature as the basis for guiding clients.
“Guiding in nature accelerates the process of leading a person to their own wisdom. Our brains slow down and can actually enter into a meditative state. From that place, insights come more easily as we allow information to flow,” Kincade said. This is particularly important for children and why she holds the Chrysalis Circle girls camp.

Girls camp in June
The Chrysalis Circle, for girls in grades 6-12, is a six-day nature adventure program guiding young women on a journey connect to their core being, find their authentic voice, gain confidence and integrate mind, body and spirit. Girls meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 23 through June 28.
Each day integrates activities in nature, leadership, communication skills and time for introspection. A river trip, rock climbing, hiking, yoga, journaling and an overnight are a few of the activities designed to give girls lifelong tools and help them embrace their passage into womanhood.
Led by nature-based coaches and wilderness guides, the program is based in Eagle. The cost of the program is $450 before May 15, and $500 thereafter. Family discounts are offered.
