Man gets 5 years in prison for running over accident survivor
ARVADA, Colorado – A man was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of running over a man who seconds earlier had survived a scooter accident.
Patrick Daniel Moore, 46, of Arvada was sentenced Monday in the September 2006 death of Mario Draves Santiago-Bumbico, 22, Jefferson County district attorney spokeswoman Pam Russell said.
A jury in October convicted Moore of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Moore also pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Santiago-Bumbico had made a left turn in front of a vehicle that crashed into him, knocking him off his scooter. Investigators said Santiago-Bumbico looked slightly dazed as he sat up in the roadway when Moore ran over him and kept going.
Police officers were at Moore’s house when he arrived.
