Vail Daily staff reportnewsroom@vaildaily.comVail, CO Colorado

Emergency food and shelter programs in Routt, Eagle, Pitkin, Summit, Grand and Jackson counties are eligible for $41,657 in supplemental funding. The selection was made by a national board chaired by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. A local board will determine how funds are to be distributed among the agencies providing emergency food and shelter programs that have applied for funding. The board is seeking applications from agencies that meet the following criteria: • Are a private voluntary nonprofit or unit of government, • Are eligible to receive federal funds, • Have an accounting system, • Practice non-discrimination, • Have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and • Are a private voluntary organization that has a voluntary board. Agencies interested in applying for funding can contact Michelle Kazmier at 970-262-3888 ext. 314 or michellek@summitfirc.org for an application. Applications must be received by May 20 for consideration.
