Funk bassist Brian Jordan performs in Vail
VAIL CO, Colorado
Brian Jordan comes to Samana Lounge for the first time Wednesday night. He is best known for his role as one of the guitarists with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. Jordan toured with Denson for 12 years and now fronts his own funk-rock band, The Brian Jordan Band.
Jordan’s other notable performances include collaborations with Lauryn Hill, and he has appeared numerous times with the house band on the NBC television show “Last Call” with Carson Daly. Other projects that Jordan has been associated with include Blu Sirkut and Banyan, which features drummer Stephen Perkins, of Jane’s Addiction, and the The Motherlode Band. Jordan has also performed in projects with Zigaboo Modeliste, of the The Meters; Greg Errico and Cynthia Robinson, of Sly and the Family Stone; and Bernie Worrell, of Parliament Funkadelic and The Talking Heads. Jordan also has shared the stage and swapped licks with many luminaries such as James Brown, Dave Mathews, Lenny Kravitz, Bob Weir, The Allman Brothers Band, Fred Wesley and Dr. Lonnie Smith.
Jordan’s sound recalls elements of classic to modern American musical flavors, world music consciousness and 100 percent soul. Tickets are $5 at the door, which will get you a free PBR. Call 970-476-3433 to learn more.
