EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – In an effort to help local families when need can be the greatest, the Gallegos Corporation is donating to the Salvation Army of Vail Valley’s food banks.

“Part of our mission is to continue to be involved in the communities where we work. This year we see a greater need than before,” said Gary Woodworth, CEO of the Gallegos Corporation. “The Salvation Army has seen unprecedented numbers of families requesting assistance and the food pantry shelves are emptier than in the past.”

Gallegos employees are also helping communities in which it has offices by hosting canned food drives.

“Our employees have been extremely generous during the food drive. We appreciate their support and donations” said Seth Cole, COO.

The Salvation Army provides food baskets to families in need, as well as other programs for locals. The organization helps throughout the year, but it seems the holiday season is when the need can be overwhelming.

In the Vail Valley, the Salvation Army gave out more than 600 food baskets for Thanksgiving, in addition to the 600 regular food baskets in November. They anticipate giving out more than 700 for Christmas. Gallegos hopes that contributing to the programs will allow families a little financial freedom for the holidays, and it hopes to spur other companies to make similar donations.

“If every business gave just a little this holiday season, the Salvation Army would benefit tremendously. That, obviously, would have such a positive impact throughout the county,” said Woodworth.

“I am very appreciative of the outpouring of help, especially in this economy where so many people need help, even the middle class who never needed help before, needs help this year,” said Tsu Wolin-Brown, the executive director of Salvation Army of the Vail Valley.

In the spirit of the season Gallegos will continue to support local communities during the holidays. The Gallegos Corporation will make food and monetary donations to the Salvation Army of the Vail Valley, Lift-Up in Garfield County, Food Bank of the Rockies in Denver, and Angel Baskets in Telluride.
