VAIL – About 100 visitors and employees were evacuated Saturday morning from the Vail Transportation Center due to an unidentified gas leak, the Vail Fire Department reported. The gas was shut off and people were evacuated in case the gas should concentrate and subsequently ignite, firefighter Craig Davis said. Although the source of the leak was not identified, two recently installed boilers in the structure could be to blame, Davis said.”We were unable to identify the exact location, but it could possibly be related to the boilers,” Davis said. The gas was later turned back on with no indication of additional gas leaks, Davis said, adding employees were walking through the center hourly on Saturday to make sure there was no smell of gas.Staff Writer J.K.
