Daily staff report
Vail CO Colorado

VAIL – The Sonnenalp Resort of Vail host Gather in the Garden Saturday, an evening with fresh from the field seasonal ingredients prepared by the Sonnenalp’s Executive Chef Richard Beichner and paired with boutique Colorado wines. The creekside reception that brings together the growers, winemakers, chef, sommelier and guests. Following a “meet your grower” reception, a three course dinner will be prepared and enjoyed at a family-style table along the banks of the Gore Creek. The dinner is set for tonight at 6:30 p.m. Two additional dinners are schedule for August and September, with menus highlighting the best of each season.

This month’s featured grower, Morales Farm, has been farming the high country of Granby, Colorado since 1944 and is one of the highest altitude commercial farms in the country at 8,300 feet. The cooler temperatures give an extra sweetness to their produce and allow them to continue producing the freshest greens well past the typical season at lower altitudes. Part of the local sustainability movement, Morales Farms also provides produce for the Sonnenalp’s four restaurants, Ludwig’s, Swiss Chalet, Bully Ranch and Balata, on a regular basis. While this dinner series is the brainchild of the Sonnenalp’s Sommelier, Jamie Garrett, the vendor partnerships are a long-lasting part of the Sonnenalps’ commitment to local, sustainable ingredients in all of their restaurants. Similarly, the winery that’s taking part in the event, Infinite Monkey Theorem, selectively sources the majority of their grapes from Grand Valley. Based out of a converted Quonset hut in Denver’s Sante Fe Arts District, IMT’s wines are created, processed and sold to restaurants and shops in Colorado. Arriving on the Denver scene in 2008, Infinite Monkey Theorem’s wines can already be found in over 125 local stores and restaurants – including the Sonnenalp Resort.

The full three-course menu and reception is $35 per person or $55 per person with the wine pairings, excluding gratuity and taxes. Contact the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail at 970-479-5429 for reservations and details.
