AVON, Colorado – Wines from German and Austrian wine importer Magellan Wine Imports will be showcased at Avon’s vin48 Wednesday night as part of the restaurant and wine bar’s weekly tasting series. Nine winemakers, including: Verena Clüsserath, Frank Gibbert, Franz Wehrheim, Andreas Bender, Marco Konin, Frank Gibbert, Franz Wehrheim, Andreas Bender, Marco Köninger, Günter Triebaumer, Gerhard Pittnauer, Clemens Reisner and Phillip Zull will be at vin48 to pour their wines.

“We are really fortunate to have nine winemakers at the restaurant here to pour their wines and educate,” vin48 co-owner Greg Eynon said.

Vin48’s chef/owner, Charles Hayes, will pair the wines with appetizers in the restaurant’s wine bar.

The event is part of vin48’s Summer Tasting Series, which takes place every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Vin48 serves wines from visiting winemakers, importers and industry insiders, and pairs it with Hayes’ cuisine. All the wines served are available for purchase at discounted prices from Beaver Liquors in Avon.

“I think this is a great opportunity for people to learn a little bit about German and Austrian wine,” said Eynon, vin48’s wine director. “With grape varietals like Blaufrankisch, Zweigelt and Grüner Veltliner, German and Austrian wines can be a little intimidating at first. Once you get past the pronunciation you will find these wines to be delicious, accessible and perfect to pair with summer cooking.”
