FAIRPLAY ” The 57th annual Burro Days and World Championship Pack Burro Races hits the hills this weekend in Fairplay.
On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can watch burro and llama racing, enjoy a parade, pan for gold, attend Cowboy Church, watch the infamous Reynolds Gang gunfighters and stroll through more than 175 craft, merchandise and food booths.
Special Saturday events include llama races beginning at 11 a.m. and, for the children, Llama Lunacy, a dog race and rides.
The Burro Race will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the starting line on Front Street. Burro Racers run to the top of Mosquito Pass and back “-a 29-mile trip. Each racer has a chance at being the first to the top of Mosquito Pass to claim a sack of gold.
A parade will be on Front Street on Sunday, about an hour following the start of the Burro Race.

This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
Saturday’s events run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday’s events run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
