Get Out Eagle Outdoor Expo takes off

Last year's Boot Days, now the Get Out Eagle Outdoor Expo, attracted plenty of kids and families

EAGLE –John Shipp has spring fever, but then again, don’t we all?

Shipp, the owner of The Dusty Boot Steakhouse and Luigi’s Pastahouse at Eagle Ranch, wants to welcome the arrival of warmer weather with an outdoor festival this weekend.

“Last year we did it and called it Boot Days,” said Shipp. “The impetus was to start a festival to kick off the summer.”

An avowed biking fan, last year Shipp invited local shops and some bike manufacturers to offer demonstrations. The event drew a great crowd and inspired Shipp to expand on the idea for 2010.

During the Get Out Eagle Outside Expo, Shipp said, representatives from bike manufacturers Maverick, Rocky Mountain, Marin, Kona, Scott and Intense will be on hand to demo their new 2010 bikes. Additionally there will be maintenance workshops and group rides available.

The action isn’t just limited to biking. There will be fly fishing clinics, kids games and more, along with live music at the Dusty Boot. The second annual Boneyard Boogie 10K trail race is planned Saturday, and the post-race party will be hosted by the Boot.

“My whole vision is to have this morph into an outdoor enthusiast’s weekend,” said Shipp.
