Get ready for a powder day on Opening Day at Beaver Creek
Resort is set to open 16 trails with 3,340 feet of top-to-bottom skiing available on 300 acres of terrain
Beaver Creek’s Opening Day looks like a powder day as snow continues to pile up in the High Country.
The resort is set to open 16 trails Wednesday with 3,340 feet of top-to-bottom skiing available on 300 acres of terrain. The Red Buffalo Park area accessed by the Cinch Express Lift (No. 8) as well as signature trails Gold Dust, Fools Gold and Gold Rush accessed off the Centennial Express Lift will be open when the resort starts spinning chairs at 9 a.m.
And, of course, there will be freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
As of Tuesday morning, Beaver Creek had received nearly a foot of snow in the last 48 hours and 15 inches within the last week, with snow continuing to fall Tuesday. The storm is expected to drop nearly 20 inches of snow through Wednesday, according to OpenSnow.com meteorologist Joel Gratz.
Wednesday’s start for Beaver Creek and Crested Butte will complete the openings of all of Vail Resorts’ Colorado destinations for Epic Pass holders.

Along with Centennial Express and Cinch Express lifts, the Haymeadow Gondola will be up and running Wednesday, allowing beginners to access Haymeadow Park.
“I am so excited to welcome guests back to Beaver Creek Resort,” said Bobby Murphy, vice president and chief operating officer at Beaver Creek Resort, in a news release. “The fresh baked cookies, flawless corduroy and celebratory village atmosphere will make for a perfect Opening Day, and our team is just getting started for an incredible season ahead. I’d like to thank the entire Beaver Creek team for their efforts and on behalf of all of us, we’re excited to welcome you back to the resort for skiing and riding this season.”
Beaver Creek Resort will offer dining options at Spruce Saddle, The Ranch, Ice Cream Parlor, Cookie Cabin and Citrea. Chocolate chip cookies, coffee and hot cocoa will be available at the Centennial Express base area, and a banner break at the top of Centennial Express with a DJ will start an entire week of celebration.
The resort’s opening kicks off a string of events that include the annual Beaver Creek Cookie Competition, Tree Lighting and Ice Spectacular, and the Holiday Market.
The Talons Crew and resort operations staff also remain busy preparing for two weekends of Birds of Prey World Cup racing. Men’s and women’s World Cup races will be held on the famed Birds of Prey course in Beaver Creek on back-to-back weekends for the first time this December. Racing will be paired with a multi-day festival including concerts, family activities, the Beers of Prey beer tasting, athlete celebrations, and more in Beaver Creek from Dec. 6-15.
The men’s races were given the green light Friday by the International Ski Federation after a positive snow control.
Epic Pass products for this season will be available until Dec. 2 and can be purchased online or at ticket windows.
