Get ready for ‘Sweet on Vail’ Aug. 15

Rich tenBraakVail, CO, Colorado

I have a sweet tooth, so the Vail Chamber & Business Association’s next big event should be a lot of fun! On Aug. 15, the chamber hosts the very first “Sweet on Vail” dessert extravaganza. The event will take place on Meadow Drive between noon and 5 p.m. and is open to the public. A 1950s-themed event showcasing desserts created by Vail’s world renowned chefs from a variety of local restaurants, Sweet on Vail will tame any sweet tooth. Throughout the day, we will be judging ice cream, chocolates, pastries, pies and more that have been created by the participating restaurants. There will also be an open category for members of the public to see how their best sweet recipes match up to the competition. This is an open category, so be creative with your dish. Peaches are at their peak in Colorado right now, so we encourage using as much local produce as possible. Of course, the highlight of the day will be going to all the tents and trying the treats yourself. With the overall theme of the event being similar to an old soda shop, we are looking to display some cars of that era. Do you have a classic ’50’s car that you would like to display at the event? If so, please contact us at 970-477-0075. We have space available for a few more cars and would love to showcase some classic hot rods. There will be many activities for the children too. They can come get their faces painted, create some arts and crafts, or take a ride in the train. There will also be live entertainment that everyone can enjoy. The Vail Chamber & Business Association is the leading business advocacy group for businesses in Vail. The chamber is a communications outlet for businesses that need to have a voice. We also organize three events in the summer that take place in the three main sections of Vail. For information about how your business can become involved with the Vail Chamber & Business Association, call 970-477-0075 or e-mail us at Based in Vail Village, our office is located in the transportation center.
