Get ready for the second BBQ Bonanza in Vail
The Vail BBQ Bonanza on Bridge Street is coming back for its second year. Dust off your grills and get ready to light the charcoal in this local competition. The Vail Chamber & Business Association is looking for local businesses to participate in the western-themed party June 21. Interested parties must apply for a spot at the BBQ Bonanza in order to take part in the festivities. The event takes place on Bridge Street and upper and lower Gore Creek Drive and is sure to delight the taste buds of participants and guests. Restaurants are encouraged to show off their barbecue skills as this event continues to grow as a Vail summertime festival. Last years event was characterized by the smoky tastes of baby back ribs, pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. The gourmet caribou sausages and barbecued oysters with chili lime butter and spicy chipotle sauce still linger on our taste buds. The Vail Chamber hopes to expand the event this year by getting more restaurant participation by both locals and out-of-towners. We look forward to experiencing the unique ideas the chefs have to offer. Restaurant and retail businesses can participate in the event and are invited to serve any product, but we suggest participants stick with the barbecue theme. Since we are only in our second year, we hope to continue to grow the event. Last year, more than 2,000 people came out to indulge in this finger-licking good time. Those who want to participate in the BBQ Bonanza must put down a $100 deposit which will be returned after the event, are required to bring their own cooking equipment, and, if a canopy is desired, it must not be larger than 10 by 10 feet. The space outside your business may be allocated to another participating business should you chose not to participate. The Vail Chamber is also looking for volunteers to work the event. Volunteers will be provided with a BBQ Bonanza event T-shirt, a cowboy hat, and a fantastic lunch. Volunteers and businesses interested in participating should contact Matt Greene at 970-477-0075 or at email@example.com.The Bonanza BBQ on Bridge Street is fun for the whole family with great food and exciting western-themed games for the kids. Come kick off the summer season in Vail and have a grilling good time!Lourdes Ferzacca is President of the Vail Chamber & Business Association Board of Directors.
