Getting Gourmet on Gore

VAIL – The second annual Gourmet on Gore, a food, wine and spirits open air tasting and cocktail party, will take up residence in the heart of Vail Village over the busy Labor Day weekend. Combining world-class wineries and spirit companies with the best food to be found in the Vail Valley, the event also features free live music. An evening cocktail party will kick off the event Friday from 5-10 p.m, along Gore Creek Drive. The event, which will feature live music, is open to the public.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m, visitors and locals alike can sample wines from vineyards including Louis M. Martini, StoneStreet Alexander Mountain Estate, Domain Select Wine Estates, Mumm Napa, Murphy-Goode and Michael David Vineyards. Winemakers and sommeliers will be on hand to speak about their selections and educate wine lovers on the tasting process. Gourmet on Gore will showcase many different varietals.

Wine isn’t the only temptation at Gourmet on Gore – renowned chefs will serve food throughout the day. Restaurants will create specialty dishes in taste-size portions, which will then be paired with the wide assortment of wines and spirits being offered.

“This event was intended to make the traditional high-end food and wine festival more accessible to the public,” said Amy Hornyak of Highline Sports & Entertainment. “Gourmet on Gore is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about wine, spirits and sample foods from the finest restaurants in town.”Whet your appetite and educate yourself on the recommended wine, spirits and food couplings, and toe-tap to jazz music throughout the afternoon. Gourmet on Gore runs from 5-10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday on Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street.Each wine tasting portion is priced in $1 increments and “Gourmet Dollars” will be available for purchase on-site.
