Getting gourmet on the Gore

VAIL, Colorado – Gourmet on Gore returns to Vail Village for the sixth year on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. An open-air festival, Gourmet on Gore takes place along Vail’s Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street, showcasing Vail Valley restaurants, as well as wines, spirits and beers from around the world. Live music, delicious food and superb drink all meet together this weekend to create a delightful epicurean atmosphere in Vail Village. Admission to Vail’s Gourmet on Gore is free. “Gourmet on Gore was created to make the traditional high-end food and wine festival more accessible to all of Vail’s guests,” said James Deighan, of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the event’s organizer. “We’re excited to ramp up the event this year by offering more elements like Brunch on Bridge Street in Vail Village.”New this year, the event will include Brunch on Bridge Street on Monday morning. Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Brunch on Bridge Street will feature brunch-inspired tasting dishes from some of the top restaurants and chefs in the Vail Valley and mimosas from Moet & Chandon. About 20 restaurants from around the Vail Valley are participating in this year’s event, including the brand-new Matsuhisa Vail, Sweet Basil, Larkspur, Campo de Fiori, La Bottega and many more. Restaurants will create specialty dishes in taste-size portions. Tasting-size portions of gourmet food range from $1 to $8, and beverages range from $2 to $15. In addition to gourmet fare from distinguished chefs, attendees of Gourmet on Gore will be treated to fine wines, as well as beers and spirits from around the world. Wine selections will include various wines from Moet & Chandon, Terrazas de los Andes, Newton Vineyard and more. Guests will enjoy beer from Stella Artois and spirits such as Herradura Tequila, Finlandia Vodka and Tuaca.Also new for 2011, renowned artist Carrie Fell created a piece of art that reflects the atmosphere of Gourmet on Gore, which was included on posters for the event. Those posters will be available at Gourmet on Gore, and Fell will be on hand throughout the weekend for personal signings.
