Gilman elected to Holy Cross board

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Newcomer Megan Gilman, of Eagle-Vail, and incumbent Lynn Dwyer, of New Castle, have earned three-year terms on the Holy Cross Energy board of directors. The announcement was made at the not-for-profit electric cooperative’s annual meeting Saturday.
Gilman and Dwyer were the top vote-getters from a nine-person field. There were five candidates running for the seat from the Eagle County area, since former board member George Shaffer announced he would not seek another term. In Dwyer’s district, which includes the Roaring Fork Valley and much of Garfield County, Dwyer faced three challengers.
Gilman, who co-owns Active Energies, a Minturn-based solar energy company, said she’s eager to get to work on the Holy Cross board. Her first meeting is next week.
“I want to hit the ground running,” Gilman said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Gilman said she knows a few current board members, so she hasn’t had any surprises just yet.

And, she added, “no surprises” should be the goal of any utility.
“Most people don’t think about their electric company,” she said. “But there’s a lot we can do to incentivize customers to think about their energy use, so we can all be as efficient with energy as possible.”
