VAIL — Fashion, fun, food and entertainment come together for a good cause when the annual Girl PowHER Fashion Show spices up the apres scene at the Vail Marriot Mountain Resort and Spa on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Presented by Amanda Precourt, the event will feature 20 models — including three Girl PowHER alumnae — who will strut their stuff on the catwalk to benefit Girl PowHER.

New this year, the event will feature an exclusive pop-up shopping area, music by DJ Ramona and an after-party at the Remedy Bar in the Four Seasons Vail. The fashion will be presented by the top names in style in the Vail Valley: Luca Bruno, Luca Bruno Due, Perch, Grey Salt, Skipper & Scout, Garbarini, Squash Blossom and Snow Angel Hats.

‘ONE OF THE BEST YET’

“This will be our first Girl PowHER Fashion Show under our organization’s new name — YouthPower365 — and so we want to make it one of the best yet,” said Melisa Rewold-Thuon, vice president of education for the Vail Valley Foundation. “This is one of our most popular events of the year.”

The event will be presented apres ski, with gourmet appetizers and cocktails. It will also feature high-end looks for both men and women in an atmosphere inspired by New York Fashion Week.

GIRL POWHER’S MISSION

Proceeds benefit YouthPower365’s Girl PowHER, a gender-specific program that focuses on positive social interactions, developing self-esteem and creating a healthy body image. The mission is to empower young women mentally, emotionally and physically to promote school and community engagement, ensuring each girl reaches her full potential.

Funds raised from last year’s fashion show enabled the program to expand with a ninth-grade transition program at two high schools. This year, funds will go toward expanding and enhancing the existing programs through guest speakers and workshops.

There will be 20 models — 15 women and five men. They are Alison McAdam, Brenda Buglione, Abbey Fox Gorsuch, Bethany Haerter, Elaine Kelton, Pavan Krueger, Argie Ligeros, Sarah Millet, Courtney O’Brien, Beth Slifer, Trista Sutter, Liz Ziegler, Bill Sterett, Chupa Nelson, Eric Wagenknect, Jake Roach and Erik Sale, plus three Girl PowHER alumnae, Yoana Gonzalez, Rocio Martinez and Sandra Loera.
