GYPSUM, Colorado – Eagle County rescuers responded to a call late Wednesday afternoon reporting that several teenagers and young adults were separated from their raft in the Eagle River in Gypsum.

The call came in saying a group in their teens and early 20s, one of whom was a professional raft guide, were rafting in a private raft when somehow they ended up in the water, said Eagle County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly.

Cordingly did not know whether the raft had flipped over or if the group was ejected.

One female ended up stuck on a rock in the middle of the river as the others made it to the shore safely. Cordingly did not know the age of the female stuck on the rock.

Rescuers reached her around 5 p.m. and got her out of the river safely, Cordingly said.
