AVON, Colorado “-A junior at Battle Mountain High School recently won a snowboard for her winning drawing as part of the 2009 Gore Range DUI Task Force drawing contest sponsored by the Avon, Colorado Police Department.

Kelly Lewis, 17, was picked from a crop of high school and middle school students throughout the county who participated in the contest, which started in October. The snowboard was donated from The Board Room.

“I kind of think it’s funny I won. It’s cool,” Lewis said. “It may help me get into art school.”

The contest was part of Avon and The Gore Range DUI Task Force’s effort to be more visible to the public and among youth.

The task force also announced Tuesday it has received a $50,000 grant from the state to enforce drunk driving laws in Eagle County.
