Girls empowerment program in Eagle set for May 9
VAIL — A free introduction to Chrysalis Circle, a unique empowerment program for girls in sixth through 12th grades, will be held in Eagle on Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The event preludes Chrysalis Circle, a six-day nature adventure program guiding young women on a journey to build their confidence, find their authentic voice, live their values and integrate mind, body and spirit. Girls meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15-20, with one overnight on June 19.
Each day integrates activities in nature, leadership and communication skills and time for introspection. A river trip, rock climbing, hiking, dancing with the earth and journaling are a few of the activities designed to give girls lifelong tools and help them embrace their passage into womanhood.
Second-year Chrysalis participants will enjoy learning more about wilderness skills, wild plants, shelter-building and leadership. Second-year Chrysalis girls who are going into 10th, 11th and 12th grade are also automatically invited to take part in Ute Springs Experiential Learning Center counselor in training program July 14-19.
Led by nature-based coaches, an expressive movement expert and wilderness guides, Chrysalis Circle is based in Eagle. The cost is $450 before May 17 and $500 thereafter. Family discounts are offered. An additional $50 discount will be given to those who attend the free introductory session on Saturday. Register for Saturday’s program by calling 970-328-5472.
“Chrysalis helped me be more aware of who I am and what I want to be as a person,” reflected one participant.
“Chrysalis has made me more in touch with myself and everyone around me,” said another.
