Glenwood caverns kicks off Music on the Mountain Aug. 14
Glenwood Springs – Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs will kick off the second season of Music on the Mountain Aug. 14. This year’s concert series will include six evenings of live music and drink specials on top of Iron Mountain, with free tram rides and admission in exchange for a canned food donation for the LIFT-UP food pantry. “The Music on the Mountain concerts were so popular and so much fun last year, that we decided to continue and expand the series this year,” said Steve Beckley, owner of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. “We have a great line up of bands and are really looking forward to seeing how many cans of food we can collect for LIFT-UP.” Last year, 800 cans of food were collectedfrom its two Music on the Mountain concerts. Beckley added, “LIFT-UP serves more and more families every year. We are hoping that we can really come together as a community and fill up the shelves at the food pantry this fall.”Starcher Hutsen will kick-off the concert series on Aug. 14 with a unique blend of acoustic sounds. They came together in 2006 quite by accident when neighbors Matt Stinson and Stan Orr discovered their common passion for guitars. At their first gig as a band, the club owner asked Kelly Gabossi to join them for a couple of songs and they’ve been together ever since.Upcoming shows include: Rock Dogs, high-energy rock-n-roll grooves, on Aug. 21; Derringer, the region’s hottest country rock band, on Aug. 28; KrossroadZ, an eclectic blend of dancing music, on Sept. 11; Cottonwood Acoustic, bluegrass originals and newgrass jams, on Sept. 18; and The Missing Link Band will wrap up the season with rock and R&B on Sept. 25.The bands will perform from 6 to 10 p.m. For more information about Music on the Mountain, call 970-945-4228, ext. 0.
