There are also five hydrotherapy tubs for mineral baths and soaks. With the introduction of the spa, we are more than just a pool. We are more than a lodge.Mitchell said leaders and owners of the Glenwood Hot Springs began studying the concept of adding a spa more than five years ago. They spoke with patrons and consultants about the possibility. We did not want to go into it lightly, Mitchell said. But in the end, he said it was a natural fit with who we are.The grand opening ceremony included a Ute blessing ceremony. Descendants of Ute Indian ancestry, Loya Arrum of Vernal, Utah, along with other family members, performed a tribal blessing and traditional dances at the facility. Arrum recalled her grandfathers stories about traveling to the hot springs on horseback in the late 1800s.Ambassadors from the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association conducted a traditional ribbon-cutting with Glenwood Hot Springs representatives manning the over-sized scissors.Barbara Clarke, Glenwood Hot Springs director of sales and marketing, said the new spa might also widen the vacation spots international market. There are spas in Aspen and Beaver Creek, but no one has this incredible water like we do, she said.Contact Phillip Yates: firstname.lastname@example.orgPost Independent, Glenwood Springs, Colorado CO
