Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The man driving a motorcycle that crashed on County Road 109 on Aug. 7 has died.

Darrin Wood, 22, of Glenwood Springs was pronounced dead Friday evening, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol. Wood and a passenger were traveling north on the road, between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale, when he failed to negotiate a curve. The passenger, Tanya Voigt, 35, of Carbondale was thrown from the motorcycle. She was wearing a helmet and suffered minor injuries.

Wood and the motorcycle went off the road, through a barb wire fence into an irrigation ditch. Wood was not wearing a helmet and was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.

The state patrol said excessive speed contributed to the crash.
