Go, Rilla! to rampage again at The Sandbar

Daily Staff Report

VAIL – Go, Rilla!, the new funk/rock/reggae/blues band from Boulder will be released from its cage and allowed a second unmonitored rampage through the The Sandbar in Vail Thursday at 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. Featuring Colorado musicians including vocalist/keyboardist/Hammond organ Bill McKay (Leftover Salmon, The Derek Trucks Band, Band du Jour), guitarist/singer Ash Ganley (The Ash Ganley Band, Zestfinger, Preacherman and the Congregation), bassist Chris Wright ( Zestfinger, Preacherman, Wendy Woo) and drummer Brian Dillon, Go, Rilla! plays a homegrown mix of New Orleans funk, blues, and improvisational rock and features strong vocal harmonies a mixture of cover and original music.Go, Rilla is a more than decade-long collaboration between good friends who were always busy with their own touring bands, but wanted to find time to jam together when their schedules permitted. Starting off by doing openers at The Fox Theater in Boulder for acts like Maceo Parker, Go, Rilla! would go on to play sporadic dates around Colorado over the years, but took a six-year hiatus from playing together when Bill McKay moved to Atlanta to play in The Derek Trucks Band. Upon his return to Colorado, Go, Rilla! was resurrected. Now the members have more time to spend on Go, Rilla! and are all happy to have rekindled a musical friendship – that you can hear in the natural way they communicate on stage – that goes way back. For more information, call the Sandbar at 476-4314.Vail, Colorado
