Lt. Col. Bern Krueger has departed for service in Iraq. He will be flying a CH-46 Helicopter, a troop transport critical to operations there.Krueger came to Vail when he was three years old, where he was one of the first residents of West Vail. He graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1980 and attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.He is married with three children and is living in Edwards, Calif., and he is a commanding officer of two reserve helicopter units.
