Thanks to the Pookie packers

Please give a huge Kudos to the following men for their outstanding efforts in carrying, fireman style, a HUGE Great Pyrenees dog named Pookie off of Mount of the Holy Cross. Pookie and his owners attempted to climb on Saturday, and he went as far as 12,000 feet and then was too tired. (Pookie has summitted five other fourteeners). If you see Yaro Middaugh, Josiah Middaugh, Jon Hansen, all of Vail, and Jake Blevins of Red Cliff, Please give them a shoulder massage. Pookie weighs 95 pounds on a light day.

And speaking of Walking the Dog

Saturday and Sunday is the grand opening for Walkin’ The Dog, a new business that offers day care for dogs. It’s Marisa “Alpha Queen” Cantrell’s idea. Marisa has been running a dog-care business for awhile, and this is the logical next step. These things are all over metro areas, and they’re real popular. Besides getting to hang out with the drop-dead gorgeous Marissa, you also get free hotdogs and sodas from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., gift certificates and other seriously cool stuff. They’re in Avon in the Metcalf Road Commercial Park. Call Marissa at 476-8197.

Stability ball workshop

Louanne “Fitness Goddess” Perfetti is going to teach you how to stay fit and healthy forever, or until you’re dead, whichever comes first. It’s Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Vail Cascade and costs $75. That’s a small price to pay to look thinner, younger, improve your posture and make yourself indestructible and irresistable to persons of the opposite gender. Call the Cascade, 476-7400, or Louanne at 926-9390.
