Goodbye to Minturn’s old town hall
Vail CO, Colorado
MINTURN ” Citing the structure’s inability to handle winter snow loads, the town of Minturn decided to tear down their old town hall on Wednesday.
Workers were loading the rubble into a semi- truck trailer Wednesday afternoon.
The old town hall was demolished months after the asbestos – and mercury-filled building was determined structurally unsafe for human use in the winter months due to inadequate support of snow loads.
The old town hall was built in 1912 and through the years it housed town offices, a school, a senior center and lately, a document storage facility.
The town has no set plans for the site but residents have discussed putting a basketball court there.
