Gore Creek bugs will be focus of talk in Vail

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – The Eagle River Watershed Council will present a talk called “What’s Bugging Gore Creek?” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bearfish Bar and Grill in Vail.

Recent studies have found that the aquatic insect populations in Gore Creek from East Vail through Vail Village are more impaired than original estimates. The consequences of this discovery as well as the mystery surrounding the causes will be discussed this Wednesday at the Eagle River Watershed Council’s monthly Water Wise Wednesday event.

Chris Maines from the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District will talk about what studies are revealing. Kirby Wynn, head of Eagle River Watershed Council’s Water Quality Program, will join Chris as they discuss possible causes for the problem – and the community partnership called the Urban Runoff Group that’s taking shape to help solve this mystery and to provide solutions.
