The bustling neighborhood bar and restaurant is always buzzing with energy. It’s popular enough in the winter, but when the patio is open to the summer sunshine Gore Range Brewery is the place to be. From early afternoon to late night, there always name-calling: table-to-table, bar-to-table, patio-to-bar, people are calling out hellos. Voted best locals’ pub in this year’s readers’ choice poll, it’s obvious they cater to a year-round clientele.
It’s not just called a brewery to be quaint; brewmaster Jeremy Pluck keeps his tanks full. He likes to mix it up a bit, working in seasonal quaffs with the standards. Summer and winter, his bestseller is Great Sex Honey Ale. With a name like that, there are high expectations. “You can’t get these beers anywhere else,” said owner Jim Errant. “People heading into town stop by and get their fix.” Try a flight of beers, a tasting of five-ounce samples of all five brews made on site.
The pizzas, chickens, pulled pork and ribs are imbued with a smokiness due to the wood-fired rotisserie oven. The chickens are popular for grab-and-go meals as well as for those dining in, and come with a garlic-herb seasoning or barbecue sauce. The menu also includes a range of sandwiches, burgers and salads. The GRB Chopped salad is a personal favorite, and includes generous handfuls of roasted chicken, avocado and blue cheese chopped up with lettuce and a citrus vinaigrette.
If you hear live music, it must be Friday Afternoon Club. The Brewery has become the venue of choice for those wishing to milk the celebration for all it’s worth.
