Gourmet on Gore tempts the taste buds next weekend
VAIL – Gourmet on Gore, an open-air food and wine tasting, will take up residence in the heart of Vail Village over Labor Day weekend. The event combines world-class wineries with food prepared by local chefs. The event also features live jazz entertainment free to the public. Winemakers and sommeliers will be on hand to speak about their selections and educate wine lovers on the tasting process. With wines expected from France, Italy, Japan, Australia, South America, as well as domestically from California and the Northwest, Gourmet on Gore will showcase varietals of wines from syrah to pinots and everything in between. In addition to the continuous flow of vino, select Vail Valley restaurants will create specialty dishes, in taste-size portions, which will then be paired with the wide assortment of wine being offered. “Our goal was to make the traditional high-end food and wine festival more accessible to the public,” said Amy Hornyak of Highline Sports and Entertainment, the company organizing the event. “Attendees can stroll the venue and enjoy live jazz music all for free. Plus, it’s a tremendous opportunity to learn more about wine and sample foods from the finest restaurants in town.”Gourmet on Gore runs from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Gore Creek Drive and Bridge Street. Each wine tasting portion is priced in $1 increments and “Gourmet Bucks” will be available for purchase on-site. Food samples will also be offered at an affordable price. For additional information on Gourmet on Gore, visit http://www.gourmetongore.com or call 476-6797.
