Gov. Ritter taps Avon Police chief for board

AVON, Colorado ” Gov. Bill Ritter has appointed the chief of the Avon Police Department to a board that establishes and maintains standards for Colorado police training and certification.
Chief Brian Kozak was appointed to the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, whose members include Colorado Attorney General John Suthers and other top law enforcement officials.
“Chief Kozak’s work to maintain high standards for the Avon Police Department has caught the attention of Gov. Ritter, who has asked Chief Kozak to assist with this mission at the state level,” Avon Police Spokeswoman Krista Jaramillo said in a statement.
Kozak joined the board to improve Colorado’s law enforcement profession, Jaramillo said in the statement.
