Gov. Ritter to attend Vail Valley’s green ball

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter will attend The EverGreen Ball on Aug. 8, a fundraiser for conservation groups in Colorado’s Vail Valley.

The event benefits the Eagle Valley Land Trust, the Eagle River Watershed Council and the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability and takes place at the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Avon.

Ritter recently held a press conference in Denver to announce Duke Energy’s $100 million commitment to a wind farm in eastern Colorado. CEO of Duke Energy, Jim Rogers, the ball’s guest of honor.

Local chef Thomas Salamunovich of Larkspur and Avondale use local and organic ingredients for the ball’s menu. Silent auction items include an eco-coffin, organic cleaning services and bike tours of Vail.

Event guests are encouraged to don their most sustainable – and creative – threads, like a vintage tux or a gown fashioned from gold American Express cards.
