BEAVER CREEK, Colorado Internationally renowned and Grammy-nominated guitarist Ottmar Liebert is an artist whose music hovers outside of any convenient category. He has gained international popularity for his signature nouveau flamenco style, mixing elements of flamenco with jazz, bossa nova, guitar instrumentalism and countless other genres. In a special performance at the Vilar Center on Saturday, Liebert will celebrate his art with a stripped-down acoustic format and a rich, storytelling style.

Liebert burst onto the music scene in 1990 with a prolific and inspired collaboration with his band Luna Negra. Together, they recorded and released Nouveau Flamenco, the album that proved to be Lieberts breakout it was certified platinum two times in the United States and 10 times as a USA/Latin release. The album featured the stunning Barcelona Nights, and announced Liebert as one of the most talented, influential and creative guitarists and performers to surface in years. It has since become the top-selling guitar album of all time.Since 1990, Liebert has released a total of 22 albums, including live releases, Christmas CDs, 10 CDs of original music, a DVD and remixes. His fans hard core guitarists and guitar fans, instrumental music aficionados and numerous lovers of his often poignant, always inspired sound are ardent in their appreciation. Critical acclaim has been equally fervent, with Billboard magazine honoring him twice as New Age Artist of the Year.
