Grand Jnctn thief grabs $10,000 worth of cigarettes

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Grand Junction police are looking a thief who’s stolen at least $10,000 worth of cigarettes during smash-and-grab burglaries at seven convenience stores.

Three burglaries occurred during a two-hour period early Monday. Four others have occurred in recent weeks, beginning Sept. 7.

Grand Junction Police Department spokeswoman Kate Porras says all of the burglaries occurred during the early-morning hours when the stores were closed.

At least $1,000 worth of cigarettes have been stolen from each location, but nothing else has been taken.

Similar burglaries have occurred at two stores in Gypsum and Fruita.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt, gloves and dark pants.
