Grand Junction police find girl in alleged kidnap
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Grand Junction police say they have found a 10-year-old girl who was reported to have been kidnapped. A suspect has been arrested.
Police said Sunday the girl was found at about 9 p.m. Saturday, 40 minutes after officers were told she was taken. She has been released to her mother’s custody but there has been no word on whether she was injured.
Police say 40-year-old Michael Shannon Byerrum of Grand Junction was arrested early Sunday morning.
He is being held on charges of kidnapping, child abuse and menacing. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
