Grand Junction police question 2 about vandalism
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Grand Junction police are investigating whether a series of vehicle break-ins, a car theft and a shed fire are connected to earlier vandalism at a local church.
Police say they are questioning two people about the vehicles and possible arson that occurred at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. Witnesses told police they saw two people run from the stolen vehicle after it crashed.
Police say three hours later there were reports of two people inside a truck who fled on bicycles.
Investigators say they are asking the pair about extensive damage done to Trinity Baptist Church Monday morning. Police say a small fire damaged a cushion on a pew and more damage was done elsewhere, but they didn’t specify what that damage was.
A survey showed a good bit of support for local government action to bolster workforce housing in town. For now though, that support stops at supporting a new tax for funding.
