GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A Mesa State College student has been arrested on charges of making a date-rape drug in his dorm room.

Grand Junction police say 18-year-old Kiefer Clark Townsend was arrested after two people reported they took the drug and passed out.

Police say they found 360 grams of gamma hydroxy butyrate, or GHB, in Townsend’s dorm room, and that an investigator removed another 47 grams from the room for testing.

Townsend is being held on charges of manufacturing, possessing and distributing a controlled substance. Bail was set at $10,000.

It wasn’t known if he had an attorney. Jail officials didn’t immediately return a call.

Authorities say a man and a woman who took the drug were taken to a hospital early Sunday, and the woman contacted police later that day.
