Grand Junction woman killed in one-vehicle crash
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A Grand Junction woman is dead after a one-vehicle crash near an elementary school.
Authorities say 26-year-old Skye Cannell was driving an Infiniti coupe west on D1/2 Road when she drifted off the right side of the road Saturday morning. The car then hit a concrete barrier, ran over a sign and rolled over, landing on the front lawn of Chatfield Elementary School.
Colorado State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Scott Simons says Cannell was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coroner’s officials say she died of head injuries.
Excessive speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, but toxicology tests are pending.
