Great fundraiser turnout

The Salvation Army of Vail

Red Sky Golf Club, courtesy of Vail Resorts, was host to Salvation Armys Fifth Annual Kettle Tournament, June 5.While the weather did not cooperate for us this year with drizzling rain all day, our supporters, all 100 of them, showed up ready to play for our cause. We thank all our participants for braving the elements. This support means so much to our agency. Many of our players have played in our tournament for the past five years and we thank them from the bottom of our heart for their continued support. We may miss a few names here but they include, Stan and Mary Ellen Cope, Gail Malloy, John Appleby, Ed Levy, Rick Pirog, Bob Rulon, Perry Longo, Larry Brooks, Belinda and Erick Monson, Nancy and Craig Denton, and Scott Young.Straight from a major fire in Eagle, Dan Smith drove up the Salvation Armys new emergency canteen. acomplete commercial kitchen capable of serving 2,000 meals a day, it looked mighty spiffy sitting out in front of Red Skys beautiful clubhouse.Prizes were given to the first and second teams in three different flights matched accordingly by handicaps so plenty of players walked away with great prizes . We had a few close calls on our Hole In One car, a 2008 GMC Acadia, sponsored by Perry Longo of HM Brown, however no one was able to claim the car this year. Players dressed in red to support us (our color) and the team of Brandon Levy, Kyle Denton, Todd Pirog and Brian Bevan won hands down in their red socks and put-together knickers. Team National Velvet, Carl Dietz, Bill Simmonds, Tommy Landenauer and Jerry Hinsel came dressed to the nines in red Kettle shirts and matching windshirts. Dave Peterson was the highest bidder on the Coors Brewing open auction item. Hes taking 10 guests to an Avs game next year sitting in the Coors Box. Way to go, Dave, and thank you Coors Brewing Company! Our prizes were donated by Adams Rib Mountain Country Club, Brush Creek Dry Goods, Coors Brewing Company, Coyote Vision,Cordillera, Carniceria Tepic, Country Club of the Rockies, Eagle Ranch Golf Club, E-Town, Fiestas, Gore Range Brewery, Grouse Mountain Grill, Jeff Hansen and Red Sky Golf Club, Junipers, Los Amigos, Main Street Grill, National Velvet, The Ore House, Paddy ODays, Riverwalk Wines and Spirits, Russells, Satos, Sweet Basil, Vista Restaurant, Sonnenalp Golf Club, West Vail Liquor Mart.
